And the Winner is…
On November 28th, guests joined members of The Global Corner Board of Directors and teachers for a holiday get together and to pick the winning ticket for the Fall Fundraiser. Founder and Director, Lee Hansen, sold the lucky ticket to Annette Massicotte at a recent meeting of the Retired Teachers Association. As it turns out, Annette was the High School English teacher of Kitt Lough, our Music & Dance teacher! It really is a small world! Annette received a certificate for four tickets to Ballet Pensacola’s Nutcracker Suite, a $200 gift certificate to Jackson’s Steakhouse, and a lovely holiday keepsake from Angel’s Garden. Congratulations to Annette, and thank you to all who participated!
The Global Corner sparks the natural curiosity of children by bringing the world to life, right in their classrooms. Through exciting, hands-on activities, elementary school students in Northwest Florida learn the language, culture, geography, history, food and art of people across the globe.
Each year The Global Corner features a new country to represent. More than 22,000 virtual trips have been taken by local students to Japan, Spain,Egypt, and Brazil so far. This year's voyage…Russia!
The Global Corner is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. For public schools, a minimal fee of $2.00 per student is charged to offset the cost of materials. The remainder of the cost is provided through grants, donations, and sponsorships. (The fee for private schools and other groups varies depending on the size of the group, location, etc. Please call for information.)
